Playing Catchup: August 21st, 2014. A Maternity shoot

Here I sit with my sweet, little  Rilo babe sleeping on my chest. Last time I wrote, Preston and I were anxiously awaiting her arrival - not knowing she would be a 'her' (we were actually both pretty convinced we would be having a boy)!

Now that the craziest part of the year for the Smith/Tillotson family has passed (fall, namely Halloween, is INSANE for us. But, I'll get to that later), I am finally finding time to document what's been happening over the last couple months!

I'm so excited to finally be sharing these photos. I had wanted to take maternity photos all along but as Rilos due date drew near and Preston and I got busier with work and preparing our home for baby, I was hesitant that we would actually get to do them.
Within a couple days of her due date, and under the strong impression that she would not be arriving 'on time' we arranged to have our maternity shoot on August 21st (her 'due date').
We thought it would be a perfect way to celebrate/distract ourselves from the fact baby wasn't with us yet!

I am still completely head over heels with these photos and with the decision we made to get them. The last time Preston and I got photographed was at our wedding nearly two years ago!
Officially being mom now, I can say confidently that I will always adore these photos and the fact that they were taken at right before one of the biggest, and best game changers of our lives.
Looking at these I think they perfectly display how ecstatic Preston and I were to be parents!
One day when you see these Rilo, I hope you realize how you completely and totally changed our lives for the better since the moment we found out you were coming!

over the weekend

Thursday 6.19.14, Preston & I had the absolute pleasure of being a part of the most lovely wedding for our dear friends Mo and Abigayle. These two were absolutely ravishing/handsome/lovely/gorgeous in their wedding attire (Abis dress was UNREAL), and on top of that they were both beaming with pure joy! Their venue was a dream as well - the weather was supreme and a back drop of pine and aspen filled mountains were breath taking. Plus it was decked out with the most beautiful floral arrangements I've ever seen!
The day was perfect, filled with so much love and complete with the funnest wedding party, ever.
It was just the greatest and we are so completely happy for those two!

The rest of the weekend brought even more fun!
+we had a blast getting some sun with impromptu paddle boarding while our friend James and his sweet mom competed in a wakeboarding comp at Utah Lake
+enjoyed in some people watching/booth browsing at the Strawberry Days festival
+browsed the Provo farmers market
+used our charcoal grill for the first time and whipped out some pretty delicious turkey burgers and gourmet hot dogs for our cute niece and nephew
+spent the evenings playing with our most favorite pup Kieda

Our perfect weekend would not be complete with out our score on living room seating from our favorite home furnishing store, The Deseret Industries. For $80 total and after a little love, and attention from an upholstery cleaner, our couch and arm chair are good. as. new!

I have decided Preston and I are totally on a 'honeymoon' phase with our house, meaning, we are both completely content spending our weekends whittling away at the long, but exciting list of projects we have whipped up in our heads. I loooove it!
My favorite part about our list at this point is that we are mostly past the 'must be dones' and now have moved on to the projects that will 'Smithify' our space, making it more and more our home.

Up this week: Preston will be finishing up modifications on my garden boxes tomorrow! That means our heirloom tomatoes, watermelon, squash, zucchini, lemon cucumbers, basil, chocolate mint and rosemary will finally have a home! Pictures to come (:

Hope everyone else had an equally enjoyable weekend!

Ps - we have always loved going to famers markets on the weekends. Our most frequented are the Salt Lake and Provo markets, the first is huge, offering a large variety - with supreme people watching opportunities and the latter has a more quaint, small town, personal feel, I love them both!
But, I'd love for us to branch out. Are there any other city markets we are missing out on? Has anyone been to the Thanksgiving farmers market? Or the Park City market?
Let me know (:

where the heart is

My, my, my, it has been a minute since I've been around here!
So much has happened since the last post i.e.,
+Preston has been the busiest bee with Circus work, plus an
awesome new project he's been working on
+our puppy and my stomach have been growing like crazy
+we've gotten to attend and photograph a plethora of dear
friends weddings this summer and have so many more to look forward to,
+we have had so many wonderful opportunities to spend time with
our families and have been blessed to have built/rekindled such amazing
friendships that we hope last a lifetime
+plus I have been beyond blessed to have had such a smooth, happy,
and healthy first pregnancy (30 weeks!! 10 - give or take - more to go!!!)

Along with all of this wonderful stuff, we made another big life move, literally.

As of the evening Friday June 6th, 2014, after some quick action from our realtor + some unconditional love and support from our family, + the signing and initialing of a 'couple papers' (I hope the sarcasm is sensed here),  Mr. Preston J. Smith & I became

Home Owners
Built: 1929
We are: the 4th owners
Located: American Fork, Utah
Yard: Yes. Fenced for Kieda,
mature peonies, wild roses and raised garden boxes for me
 & a shop for Presto
Good News: We are close to EVERYTHING
Bad News: We forgot to switch our utilities,
no hot water for us over the weekend (:

+A quick little photo sesh came to be after some fun light decided to play+

Man, who knew a first home could feel so good and invite so much love and support into one tiny families lives! I have been in awe by the outreach of help we have received, especially from our family and close friends, though we haven't exactly needed a lot of help at this point (it literally took us no more than two hours to move in) we are so thankful for everyones offers and have loved, loved, loved having people over - even though we can't offer a place to sit quite yet!
I am so excited for our home to be a place to gather with these people more often. I can sense that there are great memories to be made in this home for our little family over the next couple years.

I can't wait to post more as we get more settled!

I hope this finds everyone happy, healthy and thankful for every good thing in life - there is so much to be thankful for!
